BFSI sector the highest spender on IT in 2006
Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector emerged the highest spender on IT in 2006 and is expected to do an encore this year, according to a Nasscom study.
According to the Nasscom Tracking of IT adoption study 2006, the energy and utility segment followed BFSI in terms of highest average IT spending in 2006. With the increase in average spending in these verticals expected to be in the range 12-27% this year, the tech-user rankings are expected to remain the same in 2007, said the study.
After BFSI and energy & utility, the third sector projected to witness a considerable hike in its IT spend this year is the tourism and hospitality sector. The sector’s Rs 18-crore IT spend in 2006 is projected to grow by 13%, placing it among the highest tech-spenders in India in 2007.
