DBS Bank started its operations in India in 1994 when it opened a representative office in Mumbai. This was upgraded to a full branch in March 1995. DBS opened its other branch in Delhi in 2005. In June 2005, DBS and Cholamandalam Investments and Finance Company Limited (Chola) agreed to form the Cholamandalam DBS Joint Venture.
